Magnetic sensor based on spin waves

The spectrum of spin waves (SW) tangentially magnetized films yttrium iron garnet (YIG) with a surface metastructure in the form gratings etched grooves period close to film thickness d (~ d) has been experimentally and numerically studied. It found that signal reflected from microstrip transducer width w>> d, located on YIG contains absorption lines associated excitation SW metastructure. In case when magnetic field H are oriented along grooves, at frequencies f * near short-wavelength edge magnetostatic (Damon--Eshbach) wave s . is shown linearly depends H, which can be used develop sensors. results measurements dependences (H) qualitative agreement micromagnetic modeling.
